Hurdle Game

The Idea

Hurdle takes the word puzzle you know and turns it into a relay of five. You start with a single five-letter word and six guesses. Crack it, and that answer becomes a free clue at the top of the next word — and so the chain runs on, one hurdle to the next.

The fifth and final word is the survival hurdle: every earlier answer is already laid out for you, but you have only two guesses to finish the chain. Clear all five and the day is yours.

One new chain arrives every day. Solve it, keep your streak, and come back tomorrow.

How The Relay Works

1The opening word
A normal five-letter puzzle with six guesses. No clues yet — just you and a blank board.
2Carry it forward
Your correct answer is filled in automatically as the first row of the next word — a free head start every time.
3Build the chain
Words two, three and four each begin with the previous answer already in place. Read the colours and keep moving.
4The survival hurdle
On the fifth word, all four earlier answers are pre-filled — but you get only two guesses to land it and complete the run.

Reading The Tiles

Type a five-letter word and press Enter. The tiles change colour to show how close each letter was — and the keyboard updates to match.

Green — right letter, right position.
Yellow — the letter is in the word, but elsewhere.
Grey — the letter isn’t in this word.

The on-screen keyboard tracks every letter you’ve tried, so you always know what’s still in play.

Questions

How is this different from a normal word game?

Instead of one word, you solve five in a row. Each answer you get right is carried forward as a clue for the next word, so the puzzle plays as a single connected chain rather than five separate games.

Why does the last word only give two guesses?

The fifth word is the survival hurdle. All four of your earlier answers are pre-filled to help, but the short guess limit is what makes finishing a full chain feel earned.

When does a new chain arrive?

A new daily chain unlocks each day and is the same for every player. Your progress is saved automatically, so you can step away and return where you left off.

What if I want to play more than once a day?

Switch to Practice mode for unlimited random chains. Practice games don’t affect your daily streak, so you can warm up or unwind without pressure.

Does it support Dark Mode?

Yes — choose System, Light, or Dark in Settings.

Premium

Hurdle is free to play, supported by a single small banner. If you’d like a cleaner, ad-free board — and to unlock every premium tile theme — an optional Premium subscription is available. It also directly supports continued development.

Subscription terms

Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the same price.
You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your App Store account settings.
Any unused portion of a free trial, if offered, is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Privacy Policy

Your game progress, statistics, and streaks are stored locally on your device. No account or sign-in is required to play.
The app shows banner ads through Google AdMob, which may use your device and advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads. You can limit ad personalization in your device settings.
The app uses Microsoft Clarity to collect anonymized usage and interaction data — such as taps, screens viewed, and session activity — to help us understand how the game is used and improve it. This data is processed by Microsoft and is not used to identify you personally.
Before any tracking across other companies’ apps and websites for personalized advertising, the app asks your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT). You may allow or deny this, and change your choice anytime in Settings.
The app does not sell your personal data and does not track your location.

Features may be changed or discontinued at any time.
The app is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from its use.
